AUCKLAND ARTS FESTIVAL 2017/18

Project —
Auckland Arts Festival Website.

Auckland Arts Festival welcomed a new director in 2017 and came to us looking for a re-skin of their website for the 2018 festival season. The re-skin needed to take in the directors vision, ideas and learnings from the wider marketing from the previous years festival and to apply a newly created brand aesthetic.

The challenges were to maximise impact with a new look, yet to utilise existing architecture where possible.
Our approach was to maximise time/budget spend on the new features, and to keep the aesthetic changes to a minimum but to changes that would have the most impact.

We—

  • Removed the circular elements

  • Updated the colour palette

  • Changed the formatting of the event titles

  • Simplified the navigation at the top, and within the mega menu also

  • Refreshed the ‘event’ page layout to simplify and highlight accessibility options for shows.

The remainder of the time, budget and effort was spent on new features, and improving the mobile experience.

My Role —
Account Director, whilst at Salted Herring.

My tasking and delivery for this client:

  • management of re-skin of the website through design, development and go-live

  • after-care, scoping of enhancements and additional features after festival go live and management of ongoing maintenance through the festival 2017/18.

  • implementation of a new email design and template within their booking system
